Please be at the venue at 7:45AM for an 8AM start on day 1 of the course.

What to Bring

  • Warm/appropriate clothing to be outside. Please don't wear your best as you will be outside on the ground and stage makeup will be used
  • Rainwear
  • Sun protection
  • Water bottle
  • Pack i.e. 50L or larger
  • Clipboard
  • Notepad and pens
  • Watch with second hand
  • Foam mat
  • 2 spare jumpers and t-shirts for padding for splints
  • Daypack, walking poles, paddles - gear you would normally have with you outdoors that you can use to improvise splints
  • Tarp/shelter
  • Spare old sleeping bag to use in scenarios
  • Backpack big enough to carry plenty of gear for scenarios
  • One set of op shop(throw away) clothes to be used in scenario. May be cut off your body. Pants, t-shirt and top.
  • Headtorch
  • If there is an accommodation option and you have selected it, please bring sleeping bag/linen, pillow and towel
  • If the course is not catered, please bring a packed lunch and snacks, as breaks are short and most venues do not have food available close by

To get to The Lea from Hobart, follow the Southern Outlet out of town heading towards Kingston. The turnoff to The Lea is approximately 6km along at a sign that reads “Albion Heights and The Lea” . Go over a small bridge and turn right into the continuation of Proctors Rd. The Lea Scout Camp entrance is 50m further on. Follow the signs into the main camp. If you have taken the accommodation option, this starts the day before the course. Feel free to arrive between 5-8.30pm. On arrival make your way to the caretakers house at the entrance and they will show you your cabin. Housing is in bunk style cabins with a central shared ablution block. Please bring bedding (sheets/pillow+case/sleeping bag or blanket). A large industrial type kitchen will be available for your use during the course.
