WFA Online

Are you ready to enhance your skills in emergency situations? Our online program covers essential knowledge and techniques needed for effective patient care in remote settings. Through engaging online modules, you’ll gain the confidence to respond to emergencies, whether you’re on a hiking expedition or working in an isolated environment.

The Wilderness First Aid Online course is comprised of a set of units from the Wilderness First Aid Skill Set. It has been designed for the Outdoor Industry, to offer students more advanced skills in managing a patient in an extended wilderness care situation.

What will I learn?

  • Physiology Theory: The program extends further from the standard workplace Provide first aid and Remote first aid to impart confidence, theoretical knowledge skills and treatment practices, through online lectures in anatomy and physiology, and discussion of the causes and signs and symptoms of injuries and illness. This empowers students with confidence to treat situations that aren’t ‘in the book’, while still working within their defined scope of practice.
  • First aid response: You will learn treatment principles for specific conditions. Through a series of videos, our professional instructors will demonstrate how specific first aid treatments are administered, and how to treat within the framework of a primary and secondary survey.
  • Extended care and emergency response: First aid is not ‘static’. The WFAC online course examines the dynamic nature of extended patient treatment. Students will document changes in patient conditions and use their learnt knowledge in physiology to adapt their treatments to the changing presentations of patients.

The lessons are designed to accommodate varying learning styles and include:

  • Topic readings
  • Case studies
  • Online video lectures
  • Instructor demonstration videos
  • Online short quizzes  after each topic will cement your skills, knowledge and understanding

IS ONLINE LEARNING FOR ME?

  • Do you have a hectic work or family life and getting away to complete a course is too much of a juggle?
  • Are you (or your vehicle) daunted by the idea of a long drive to a distant place to attend face-to-face training?
  • Have you been in the industry a while, and travelling away for recertifications has become a chore?
  • Will the extra costs of travel, accommodation and time off work to attend a course hit you too hard in the hip pocket?
  • Are you simply not a ‘people person’?

THEN YES! We have designed this course for you! Head to the bookings page to secure your place, and start working toward your WFA qualification.

BUT WAIT! Online learning may not be suited to all people. Online learning requires a moderate level of computer ability, strong internet connection and access to a printer. It requires organisational skills, attention to detail and a task-oriented mindset. If you relish that feeling of accomplishment as you work through and compete tasks, you will conquer the FULLY ONLINE WFA course. But if navigating paperwork is not your thing, our affiliate company Wilderness First Aid Australia provides a blended learning experience with on-site learning and assessment.
